National Law Day: Learn about your District Attorney's Office

National Law Day: Learn about your District Attorney's Office In-Person

National Law Day is an annual observance noted in the legal community, celebrating the law and bringing to life the role of students, the courts, and the Constitution. This year's Law Day theme is "E Pluribus Unum," meaning "Out of many, one." The Paso Robles City Library will host members of the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney's Office and Victim Services to share what the District Attorney's Office is all about.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Lisa Muscari began her law career as an attorney for the United States Marine Corp where she achieved the rank of Major. She joined the San Luis Obispo District Attorney's office in 2018 and assumed her current position in 2020. She will discuss the history of "E Pluribus Unum" and how it is used in law, why we have an elected official acting as our District Attorney, the mission and values of the Office, and what the District Attorney's office can do for you.

Jess Yates, Director of the Christopher G. Money Victim Witness Assistance Center will present information on how they help and provide services for victims of crimes. Jess holds a degree in sociology from UC Irvine and an MBA from National University, La Jolla. She began her local law career as a business system analyst for the SLO County Sheriff's Office. In 2023, she started work in her current position leading a team of victim advocates and support staff who work to reduce the trauma, frustration and inconvenience the victims, witnesses and family members experience when affected by crime.
